BLACK OPALS
Black Opal is formed naturally on dark, black potch. This is what then gives the opal its brilliance.
Grades are given to the potch, from N9 ( being crystal and clear) to N1 (being the darkest black) creating the most brilliant and generally the most valuable stones.
